Nipple and Areola Complex (NAC) Restoration
In a reconstructed breast the Nipple-Areola Complex (NAC) can be restored by various surgical techniques which may be complicated and leave residual scarring both at the areola circumference, and at the donor graft site.
For those clients who elect a non surgical alternative there is Micropigmentation or medical tattooing.
That is the reconstruction of the NAC through the clinical, artful implantation of pharmaceutical pigments directly into the reconstructed breast mound simulating either an exact copy of the existing natural NAC, or in the case of double reconstruction, two new NAC’s unique to that client.
Using two to three shades of pigment, shading, shadowing and highlighting techniques, a detailed three dimensional illusion can perfectly simulate the NAC of choice.
It is more than worth mentioning here that with this procedure some autonomy or freedom of choice is afforded the client perhaps for the first time during their treatment and reconstruction process.
With reference to aspect, size, shape and colour of the NAC, the client is included and encouraged every step of the way to invest interest an opinion, the final results remaining a ‘team effort’.
The NAC reconstruction treatment plan is usually two to three procedure sessions over a ten week period.
Each procedure session is conducted in a clinical sterile environment using local topical anaesthetic cream or gel for client comfort, and takes 30 – 50 minutes after the consultation is concluded.
Post procedure care instructions are supplied and the area dressed in a sterile wound dressing.
The procedure itself is not painful however the area may present the sensitivity of a minor graze for a few days afterwards.
During the healing process the initial depth of colour will lighten usually some 30 to 40 percent, giving good opportunity for evaluation, assessment and adjustment.
Natural Areola Asymmetry
That being the presentation of an uneven or imbalance in shape, form or pigment of the natural areola.
Micropigmentation is the perfect solution to areola imbalance or asymmetry addressing:
- Areola colour form and definition.
- Nipple colour, projection and definition.
- Areola size and symmetry.
- The aspect (position on the breast) of the NAC.
- Double enhancement/ rebalance asymmetry
- Double colour blush
Alopecia
The successful use of micropigmentation for the treatment in restoration or reconstruction of Alopecia sufferers is well documented.
At cosmedicFX our clients have presented conditions varying from eyebrow reconstruction to individual eyelash renovation, from stubble simulation to hair simulation of the scalp with fantastic results.
It is worth pointing out that restorative procedures are some what experimental in nature, each individual responding uniquely to each treatment. An informed course of treatment action is taken with an estimated number of sessions in the treatment plan, however it is worth noting that optimum results are some times acquired before, and some times with additional treatment sessions.
Multitrepannic Collagen Actualisation (MCA) Rejuvenation Therapy
The use of MCA in rejuvenation is both new and innovative. The procedure premise being that the treatment of fibrous scar tissue over several sessions by MCA or ‘dry needling’ causes micro trauma to the treatment site.
The results of the effects of that trauma being superficial bleeding, the production of lymph, the local increase of collagen and melanin impacting on the scar by way of relaxing the texture and improving the colour.
Similarly the treatment of superficial lines and wrinkles by the same method has produced very promising results for those who wish to stave off a surgical alternative for the time being. The appearance of the lines and wrinkles appearing softer, more plum and less obvious.
The procedure treatment is carried out in a sterile clinical environment following the application of a topical anaesthetic for client comfort. While the procedure itself is not ‘painful’ the area treated may present the sensitivity of a graze for a few days afterwards.
An after care pack and sterile dressing are provided post procedure.
